I was pleasantly surprised with the Cedros, it has survived two seasons on charter, fishing Sails & Marlin up to 40kg (80lb) with only a dob of drag grease needed. Just as well I wasn't targeting snook!

I don't know how a snook could hurt these reels. I've had mine for well over a year. During that time we have caught tuna, kingfish, mahi, sailfish, grouper, etc. the biggest test have been AJ's in the 50lb range. Believe me if a 50lb AJ can't break this reel a 20lb snook can't. P.S. If you sell tackle for a living why do you shop at a competitor? My guess is you just don't have an agreement to sell these reels so you are trying to trash them.

its a nice reel in theory but once i hooked a 20lb snook and put the power to it by cranking down the drag the bail arm is weak and started to bend towards the spool and one point rubbing the spool, within the blink of an eye the bail arm broke off. upon further inspection there is no metal in the arm only plastic where it pivots which is was caused it to break. I sell fishing gear for a living and will never suggest this to a customer.

Needed a comfortable reasonably priced spinning set up with decent line capacity for reef and wreck fishing in the keys. After alot of product searching I ended up with the cedros 55 reel and the 7' med cedros jigging rod. I have it loaded with 40lb fins braid with 20lb flouro top shot. The combo is a tad on the heavy side, but not unbearable. While fishing for yellow tail snapper, I hooked into a 15 lb bonito tuna that truely tested my tackle. It took off on a long run peeling line even after I tightened the drag. And resisted being turned holding under the boat trying to get back down in structure. The combo handled the tuna with ease. I was really impressed with the smooth drag and the pulling power of the rod. The fight however, ended near the boat with a flash and blood cloud. Barracuda left me with a little better than half a tuna. This reel is awesome and would work well fishing for a variety of species.
